DB ESG appointed to Network Rail ETCS survey framework.

DB ESG, a leading provider of rolling stock engineering solutions is pleased to announce that, following a comprehensive tendering process, it has been appointed to Network Rail’s framework as a potential provider of independent ETCS (European Train Control System) vehicle survey reports. These reports will support Network Rail’s ETCS supply and installation tendering process. 

Network Rail is introducing the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) across parts of the UK rail network. As part of this programme, rolling stock must be surveyed to inform the design and installation of the necessary ETCS equipment.

DB ESG was selected for its extensive and demonstrable experience in delivering ETCS retrofit surveys, alongside complex rolling stock survey programmes across UK passenger and freight fleets. The company has already surveyed more than 340 locomotives for ETCS fitment, with expertise spanning the full project lifecycle, from initial survey design and depot coordination through to the production of ETCS fitment design packages.

DB ESG plans to deploy a dedicated survey team capable of completing all aspects of the survey process within a short timeframe. This approach combines two forms of 3D scanning technology, with manual inspections carried out by experienced systems engineers, creating a comprehensive ‘reality capture’ model of each vehicle using both 3D data and 360-degree imaging.
